July 16, 2011 – John Muir Celebration
This will be an event to honor the John Muir legacy. The communities of Coulterville, Greeley Hill, Lake Don Pedro, La Grange and Groveland are all participating to make this a great day to visit the area and learn more about Muir’s vision. There will be many activities and events in which to participate.
Grimes Getaways Bicycle Tours is participating by offering a bicycle ride from Groveland to Bower Cave along a portion of the trail John Muir traveled. Here is the itinerary:

John Muir Festival - Bower Cave Tour
8:30am Meet in Groveland at Mary Laveroni Community Park (just west of Hwy 120 and Ferretti Road – between the fire station and the library/ museum). Need to leave on time in order to meet with the Northern Mariposa County History Center tour at the cave.
We will bike from Groveland to Bower Cave. A Tour Guide will be at Bower Cave providing information and history. The ride will continue to Coulterville where lunch will be provided. John Muir festivities will be ongoing in Coulterville. We then return to Groveland via Priest-Coulterville Road where the John Muir celebration continues. This is not an easy ride. Be prepared for plenty of climbing here in the Sierra foothills.
